An Indian who lives in America visiting India..

This is a request to all you Indians who live in America (or UK/Singapore). Its December and the time to visit family back home. Please realize that not everybody needs a lecture about life in the US. And, the folks who unknowingly become an audience to this monologue, might have spent a little more time in the US than you. So spare us the details about "expressways", "DUI", "supermarkets", "getting pulled over", "utilities"....

This post has been triggered by a recent experience (there have been several more in the past), where we were subjected to a lesson in American life. Even the poor parents/sisters/brothers/relatives/friends struggle to look interested in the endless rant about the "wonderful life".

Recently, someone was actually trying to explain the map of Texas with his hands to a bunch of bored friends. "Arre, everything is big in Texas" proclaimed the chap proudly. Or the classic "We traded in a Camry" with a total smug expression at the baffled listeners.. Or throw a "Oh! Mortgage kills" and wait for someone to ask what that was, and then launch another explanation..

I would really like to beg of you guys to be a little more sensitive to the fact that people are not interested.. :)

LOL @ Satya. I don't know whether you are pulling her legs or really that innocent [read dumb].

Anyways, Ketaki this is true that it's irritating to listen to the "in the air" talks sometimes. Even I had been to the States 4-5 times but hate to keep talking about what I did in there.

Very well written blog! Though I am the first time visitor, I can say that I can come often if you could write little more often :)

Your blog sounds like you are jealous or trying to act smart.
